Week 3: How Children Develop Understanding

I hope everyone had fun this week learning about Jean Piaget (pronounced "장 피아제") and how he observed children developing understanding of their world.  Some of these concepts may have been a little difficult for some of you, but as we go through the course they will become more and more clear.  Your observation assignment is coming up soon, so do your best to find a child between the ages of 5 and 12 that you can observe and interact with for the project.  The observation shouldn’t take too much time and you will only need to meet with them once.
Finally, here are the documents from class and some videos about Piaget’s stages of development:

And the videos!

While watching these videos, it's important to look past the unbearable cuteness and into the children's reasoning skills.  Even though they sometimes give incorrect responses, they also explain why they believe that their responses are correct.  This is what shows us the stage of development they may be in.

New Bonus!!  By popular demand, I am also posting the information sheet from the Constructivism learning center.  Enjoy!!
